Sippy Tom is a Brisbane café and hospitality venue with a playful, personality-led brand. The goal of the refresh was to strengthen its existing identity and create a more cohesive visual language across every customer touchpoint, from takeaway packaging and printed collateral to the website.
Working as a Graphic & Brand Designer at SLATE Media, my role included designing takeaway cups, coasters and supporting print collateral, as well as contributing to the visual design of the Sippy Tom website in collaboration with the web developer. The challenge was to create a system that felt distinctive and recognisable while still capturing the relaxed, social personality of the venue.
The refreshed direction brought together bold colour, playful typography and graphic elements to create a more expressive brand experience. Rather than treating each application individually, the identity was designed to translate consistently between physical and digital environments while allowing each touchpoint to have its own purpose.
The result is a cohesive café brand that feels recognisable whether customers encounter Sippy Tom in-store, through its takeaway packaging or online.

Scope of Work

A cohesive digital experience.
The website was designed to extend Sippy Tom’s refreshed visual identity into the digital space, creating a consistent experience between the physical café and its online presence. Working alongside the web developer, I contributed to the website’s visual design and helped translate the new brand direction into a clear, engaging digital experience.
Typography, colour, imagery and graphic elements from the wider identity were carried through the website while considering the different requirements of a digital interface. The result was a site that felt distinctly Sippy Tom while remaining simple to navigate and giving customers an easy way to explore the venue, menu and brand online.
Designed for everyday moments.
For a hospitality brand, some of the smallest applications can become its most visible touchpoints. Takeaway cups, coasters, menus and other printed collateral gave the refreshed identity an opportunity to become part of the everyday customer experience.
Each piece was designed as part of the wider visual system, using consistent typography, colour and graphic treatments while adapting the layouts to suit different formats and functions. This created a recognisable brand experience that extended beyond the café itself, particularly through takeaway packaging that could carry the Sippy Tom identity out into the surrounding Brisbane community.
Bringing the brand together.
Across physical and digital applications, the refresh created a more connected brand experience for Sippy Tom. The updated visual language gave the café a consistent foundation that could be carried from its website through to the everyday materials customers interact with in the venue.
By designing each touchpoint as part of one wider system, the finished identity feels more cohesive, recognisable and reflective of Sippy Tom’s personality while remaining flexible enough to evolve with the business.
